Ericpol Supports the Development of Radio Communication and Multimedia Technologies
27 January 2014
Jan Smela, the President of Ericpol, will host a meeting of the Board of the Foundation for the Development of Radio Communication and Multimedia Technologies scheduled for 23 January 2014 at the Primate’s Palace in Warsaw.
President of the Office of Electronic Communications, Magdalena Gaj, and Under-Secretary of State in Poland’s Ministry of Administration and Digitization, Małgorzata Olszewska, will be special guests at the meeting.
The Foundation for the Development of Radio Communication and Multimedia Technologies has been operating for 14 years. The initiative is supported by a number of sponsors – more than 20 companies from the telecommunications and media industry, the presidents of which make up the Board of the Foundation. The Director of the Institute of Radio Electronics of the Warsaw University of Technology, Professor Józef Modelski, Ph.D., D.Sc., is the President of the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
“Ericpol supports the Foundation by realizing a strategy aimed at facilitating dialogue and cooperation between the scientific and business communities. Our goal is to combine scientific theory with market reality,” emphasises Jan Smela, Vice-President of the Foundation’s Board. To that end, the company has created the Ericpol Science Ecosystem – a collaborative platform for higher educational institutions and the scientific community.
The Foundation brings industry, business and science together within its statutory activities. Thanks to its sponsors, the Foundation developed a scholarship programme for young scientists and an all-Poland doctoral dissertation contest (currently in its 12th edition); additionally, contests for young authors are organised at many conferences around Poland and trips to conferences abroad are supported. Scientific and instructional laboratories are being modernised, and young personnel have the opportunity to learn state-of-the-art techniques and technologies in person rather than over the Internet. It is in no small part thanks to the initiatives of the Foundation that the Warsaw University of Technology has become a European centre in the field of radio communications and multimedia technologies. Sponsors have the opportunity to employ well-educated graduates who can easily meet the newest technological challenges.
