Ericpol awards young programmers
12 June 2015
Ericpol has awarded a group of 9 students and 9 teachers in the national “To See Mathematics” competition for secondary schools. The ceremony took place on June 12 at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Cracow.
The purpose of the “To See Mathematics” competition is to popularize mathematics using computer tools such as web browsers and non-commercial software. This year the competition was attended by 88 students. Their task was to prepare their own website in HTML or PHP with gif animations, using widely available software. The theme of their project was the presentation of a mathematical topic in a way that facilitates understanding of the content through the use of technology. After assessing entries, the judges decided to award:
- one I prize
- two II awards
- two III prizes
- four distinctions
The main sponsor prepared prizes for the winners, students with distinctions and Ericpol teachers – laptops, digital cameras and valuable electronic equipment. The awards ceremony was preceded by speeches from the Vice-Rector for Science at AGH, Prof. Zbigniew Kąkol, and Director General for Education at CERN, Mr. Rolf Landuy.
