Ericpol at TEDxKraków 2013

24 October 2013

12 speakers will share their ideas with an audience of 600 people on Friday 25 October during the 2013 TEDxKraków Conference held at the “Stara Zajezdnia” venue in Św. Wawrzyńca street. On this occasion Ericpol — a Platinum Partner of TEDxKraków — invites everyone to its café for a sip of coffee and inspiration.
The theme of the 2013 TEDxKraków Conference is “Make!”. Carefully selected speakers from all over the world will show the participants how to transform inspiring ideas into concrete action. The speakers will include Ms Catherine Bracy from Code for America, who will talk about how new technologies support the creation of a civil society; Mr Gever Tulley from the Tinkering School, who will focus on why we should let children do dangerous things; Mr Richard Satava, who will explain the substance of innovative thinking; and Mr Steve Crawshaw from Amnesty International, who will let us learn more about modern Don Quixotes from Poland, Czech Republic, Serbia, Egypt and Burma using wit and fun to fight the system.

In their speeches the invited guests will not only present valuable and inspiring ideas, but will also try to encourage the participants to take proactive measures that can bring benefits to the local community. Following this idea, Ericpol — a Platinum Partner of TEDxKraków — is developing a project aimed at reducing traffic and improving the quality of air in Cracow.

‘Recently, the media have highlighted a report from the European Environment Agency which ranked Cracow the city with the third highest level of air pollution in the country. The town councillors cannot push through a law prohibiting the use of solid fuels to heat homes. We thought that we would not reduce the emission of smoke from chimneys, but at least the fumes from exhaust pipes. Many of us can reduce emissions by switching from a car to a bicycle, a tram or a bus. The project we are working on is to promote this approach,’ says Jan Malkiewicz, the Ericpol representative responsible for communication and marketing.

During the conference the participants will be asked to fill in special questionnaires regarding car-pooling. Their answers will provide an overview of expectations and the requirements of passengers.
