Ericpol among top Corporate Apple-eaters
17 November 2014
9.5 tons of apples eaten in October was what gave Ericpol 5th position in the Corporate Apple-eaters ranking organised by “Puls Biznesu”. All of the companies participating in the initiative ate nearly 160 tons of apples in total.
The “Stand up to Putin — Eat Apples, Drink Cider” initiate was started by the editors of “Puls Biznesu” in August 2014 in response to the Russian import ban on Polish fruit. One element of it was to create a ranking of companies which order apples from farmers and give them out to their employees and clients. Anna Smela Kjellin, Vice-President of the Board, suggested that the company should join the initiative.
“Poles need initiatives and now is the perfect moment to remind oneself that we are a democratic community of citizens who can support and help throughout an extensive period of time. That is why we should eat apples in any form. Only then will we help our farmers and ourselves because the apple is a remarkable fruit,” said Jan Malkiewicz, Marketing and Communications Manager at Ericpol.
As part of the initiative, which began in October, each day Ericpol’s offices in Łódź, Warsaw and Cracow offer their employees delicious apples. They will be available at the company’s offices until spring 2015.
51 companies participated in the Corporate Apple-eaters ranking. The winner was Fakro, windows manufacturer employing around 6,000 people. The company ordered nearly 44 tons of apples. A full ranking is available here.
